A message from our Co-Founders, Marcello La Rosa and Marlon Dumas
As we celebrate the fifth anniversary of Apromore, we reflect on an incredible journey marked by innovation, growth, and a steadfast commitment to excellence in process mining. Since its inception, Apromore has evolved from an ambitious research project into a leading enterprise-grade process mining platform that today is used by thousands of users worldwide to optimize business processes, drive digital transformation, improve compliance and unlock the greater potential for their businesses.
Our Academic Legacy – From Research Vision to High Growth Scaleup
Reaching our five-year anniversary is worthy of celebration but our history goes back much further to 2009 when we, Marcello and Marlon, collaborated on research at the University of Melbourne and the University of Tartu. I (Marcello) had recently completed my PhD under the supervision of Marlon Dumas. At the time process mining was still in its infancy, a side topic of Business Process Management (BPM) with a small research community mostly revolved around the work of Wil van der Aalst. Wil, together with some colleagues had secured a research grant and invited me to work on the design and development of an Advanced Process Model Repository, called “AProMoRe.” The project quickly took off and over the next few years we developed an open-source prototype that attracted contributions from more than 15 universities, research institutes and private organizations and an open-source community of thousands of researchers, students and professionals. In 2018, encouraged by market demand and the strong support of The University of Melbourne, we embarked on commercializing Apromore. By September 2019 we had acquired the first two paying customers, so we decided to spin out of The University of Melbourne and founded Apromore Pty Ltd.

Transforming Businesses with Process Mining
Since 2019 we have helped hundreds of organizations across various industries achieve their operational goals. Our clients have seen measurable outcomes, including reduced operational costs, streamlined operations, improved customer experience, and more effective compliance with regulatory requirements.
This success is a testament to the continuous influx of innovation and the platform’s ability to provide actionable insights through process mining, offering users a unique blend of advanced analytics, intuitive visualizations, and a user-friendly interface.
But the true engine of our success has always been people – the customers, partners, and our own employees that we call Apromoreans. We are incredibly fortunate to work alongside some of the most talented and dedicated individuals in the industry. Your passion, creativity, and resilience are what drive our company forward. From the early days when we were just a handful of people, to the thriving team we are today, it’s been your commitment to our shared vision that has made all the difference. To our employees: thank you. You are the heart and soul of this company, and none of this would have been possible without your hard work and dedication.
